Lumen does not directly measure the amount of calories you’ve consumed each day. However, the Lumen morning measurement does reveal your body’s energy balance. Your body’s energy balance indicates whether you’ve consumed more calories than you’ve burned the day before. 

In a balanced diet, a lower RQ measurement in the morning indicates a negative energy balance (caloric deficit) which will result in the body shifting towards fat utilization. 

Note: This only applies to morning measurements taken when the body is in a fasting state.
